Rare root canals complications

Though root canals are generally safe, some rare complications can occur. These include an allergic reaction to the materials used during the procedure, damage to the surrounding teeth, nerve damage, and infection.

In most cases, these complications can be treated and are not severe. However, if you experience any of these symptoms after a root canal, you must immediately see your dentist or doctor.

Some people may have difficulty breathing due to inflammation in their throats. Others may have facial swelling, fever, cough, sore throat, or diarrhea due to an allergic reaction.

A root canal complication called mandibular block is another possible issue. It occurs when part of the tooth’s nerve is damaged accidentally during the procedure. When this happens, the patient may feel tingling in the face, difficulties eating certain foods, and sometimes numbness on one side of the face.

The best way to avoid this problem is by making sure all roots will be properly removed from a tooth before completing the procedure.

Another complication is apical periodontitis which occurs when bacteria invade the root canal following treatment. The outcome of this can be substantial discomfort in the joint of the jaw, which may continue for several months until a dentist or physician prescribes antibiotics to treat the infection and alleviate the pain.

Why are root canals considered safe?

Root canals are a standard dental procedure that is not considered dangerous. The main reason why root canals are not regarded as scary is that they are relatively simple procedures that involve little to no risk.

Additionally, root canals are often performed by experienced and qualified dentists who know how to minimize any potential risks.

Finally, root canals have a very high success rate, reducing potential risks.

Root canals may be more dangerous than other treatment methods if the dentist does not follow all necessary precautions or if the individual has an underlying medical condition that causes them to be more sensitive to infection.
